ABOUT THIS ARTWORK:
The Montserrat Oriole, Icterus oberi, is a type of oriole endemic to a single island in the Caribbean.
This species is listed as ‘Critically Endangered’ due to its small distribution, found only on the Caribbean island of Montserrat, deforestation, and volcanic eruptions which have destroyed the bird’s forest habitat.
This painting was created as part of a coloring book I illustrated in collaboration with the conservation organization BirdsCaribbean. The book is titled Birds of the West Indies Colouring Book, and you can learn more about it and download a free copy from my website.
